FeSO4 Used in Agriculture & Dyeing — Unique Angle
Beyond water treatment, FeSO4 has two specific applications that many suppliers do not mention:

Iron micronutrient (Fe-EDDHA substitute): FeSO₄ directly supplies Fe²⁺ to plants suffering from yellowing leaves (iron chlorosis). Dilute to a concentration of 0.1–0.5% and apply as a root drench or foliar spray. Commonly used in hydroponic vegetable cultivation, ornamental plants, and dragon fruit.
Color fixing in dyeing (mordanting): FeSO₄ is used as a mordant in natural and synthetic dyeing processes, helping the dye adhere firmly to cotton and linen fibers. The recommended ratio is 2–5% based on the weight of the fabric.
Electroplating wastewater treatment: Reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III) according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT before precipitation. The FeSO4 : Cr(VI) ratio is 3:1 (molar ratio) at pH 2–3.
