Aquaculture Chemicals — Standardized Shrimp & Fish Pond Treatment Solutions | Loc Thien
What Are Aquaculture Chemicals?
Aquaculture chemicals are specialized chemical compounds used in aquaculture (shrimp, pangasius, tilapia, crab farming, etc.) for pond bottom remediation, water disinfection, pH and total alkalinity stabilization, and pathogen elimination before stocking. Unlike industrial wastewater treatment chemicals, aquaculture chemicals must comply with QCVN 02:2019/BNNPTNT — Vietnam's national technical regulation on feed, veterinary drugs, and chemicals in aquaculture.
Key active ingredients: Quicklime CaO and hydrated lime Ca(OH)₂ for post-harvest pond remediation; Chlorine Ca(OCl)₂ 60–70% for pathogen disinfection; Dolomite CaMg(CO₃)₂ for pH/alkalinity stabilization; BKC (Benzalkonium Chloride) for chlorine-free bacterial/fungal control. Loc Thien provides full CoA, MSDS, CO/CQ documentation per batch.

CaO & Ca(OH)₂ — Pond Bottom Remediation & pH Control
Quicklime CaO (CAS 1305-78-8) is pure calcium oxide that generates exothermic reactions upon water contact, effectively killing bacteria/parasites and rapidly increasing pond bottom pH. Application rate for dry pond remediation: 500–1,000 kg/ha; apply evenly after ≥3 days of pond drying. Avoid using CaO in filled ponds due to heat impact on aquatic life.
Hydrated lime Ca(OH)₂ (CAS 1305-62-0) — Calcium hydroxide, slower-acting but safer for filled ponds. Water remediation dose: 150–300 kg/ha; pH adjustment: 20–50 kg/ha when pH <7.0. Ca(OH)₂ also precipitates heavy metals (Fe²⁺, Mn²⁺) and improves water clarity.
Loc Thien supplies ≥85% purity CaO and ≥90% Ca(OH)₂ — packed in 25kg/50kg bags with pallet options. Includes purity CoA and 16-section GHS MSDS.
Chlorine Ca(OCl)₂ — Pond Water Disinfection
Chlorine Ca(OCl)₂ 60–70% (CAS 7778-54-3) is the strongest disinfectant for aquaculture ponds. Broad-spectrum efficacy against Vibrio (shrimp pathogens), Aeromonas (fish), fungi, and viruses. Pre-stocking disinfection dose: 10–30 ppm (1.5–5 kg/1,000 m³ water) depending on pH/temperature.
Post-treatment waiting period: ≥5–7 days for residual Cl₂ to degrade to <0.01 mg/L before stocking. Measure residual chlorine with test kits. Aeration accelerates Cl₂ off-gassing.
Loc Thien supplies 65–70% Ca(OCl)₂ in 25kg drums, stored cool/dry. Includes GHS MSDS, batch CoA, and usage guidelines.
Dolomite — pH & Total Alkalinity Stabilization
Dolomite CaMg(CO₃)₂ (CAS 16389-88-1) is a calcium-magnesium double carbonate mineral used to: (1) stabilize pH when <7.5; (2) maintain total alkalinity (TA) at 80–150 mg/L CaCO₃ (ideal for shrimp); (3) supply Mg²⁺ for shrimp molting.
Dosage: 15–20 kg/1,000 m² to raise alkalinity by 10 mg/L (varies with pond depth). Apply mornings when pH is lowest. Gentler than lime, suitable for 5–7 day maintenance cycles.
Loc Thien Dolomite: <75 micron powder, ≥95% CaCO₃+MgCO₃, 25kg/50kg bags. Heavy metal analysis with CoA.
QCVN 02:2019/BNNPTNT Compliance & Documentation
QCVN 02:2019/BNNPTNT is Vietnam's national technical regulation (MARD-issued) governing aquaculture inputs. Pond treatment chemicals (lime, chlorine, dolomite) and disinfectants (BKC, iodine) must meet minimum active content, heavy metal limits, and pH specifications.
Loc Thien provides full technical documentation per batch: CoA for technical specs; 16-section GHS MSDS/SDS in Vietnamese; CO/CQ for imports. Export-oriented farms require this for veterinary traceability audits.
